Balao Workshop

Designed in Belgium, manufactured in Portugal

Producing in Portugal means guaranteeing high quality and recognized expertise in sneaker manufacturing. Our workshops have perfect mastery of the key stages: sewing, assembly and finishing. Producing in Europe also means less transport and a manufacturing process in line with our values: sustainable, responsible and transparent.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Every Balao pair passes through the hands of experienced craftsmen. Nothing is left to chance: cuts, seams, assembly... everything is controlled by hand. This artisanal approach ensures precision, consistent quality and meticulous finishing. Unlike industrial production lines, our workshops focus on the right gesture rather than speed.

HUMAN-FRIENDLY PRODUCTION

A Balao pair costs around 60 € to produce, a far cry from the 5 to 7 € of Asian production. This difference reflects dignified conditions, fair wages and a secure social framework. Producing in Europe means guaranteeing that everyone involved works under ethical conditions, without subcontracting or exploitation.

A SHOE DESIGNED TO LAST

Durability is built in right from the design stage: sturdy soles, reinforced seams, resistant materials. Each pair is tested and inspected before leaving the workshop. With proper care, a Balao sneaker can last for years.

PARTNER WORKSHOPS, NOT ANONYMOUS FACTORIES

We work directly with regularly visited workshops. No cascading subcontracting, no grey areas. This relationship of trust guarantees total transparency and a high level of quality. It also enables us to innovate rapidly, to integrate new recycled materials and to maintain a human and controlled production process.
